September 5, 2022 – Lewis Earl Fender, 58, was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash near Loop 1604 in Dallas. Officers report that Mr. Fender’s motorcycle collided with a truck, causing him to be thrown from his vehicle. DPS reported that he was taken to an area Hospital and unfortunately died later that day. There is currently no other information available, and the investigation is ongoing.
At this time, police can’t say what caused this accident until they uncover more facts to piece together what happened. While it is tempting to blame the driver for common factors like texting, intoxication, and speeding, we must realize that there are other possible causes. Other, less frequent factors include tire problems, traffic dangers, health problems, mechanical problems, and road conditions. Police reports may even list the accident’s initial cause as one reason before changing it as the investigation goes on. Because there are so many potential contributing factors, police must conduct a thorough investigation, paying close attention to even the seemingly unimportant details.
Unfortunately, police are often understaffed and don’t have time to dig too deeply into the causes before writing their conclusions in a report. In an accident like this, it may be necessary to get the help of an independent investigator so that those involved can get answers to help them move on and get the help they need.
