When a driver flees the scene after striking a pedestrian, we must ask the question, “Why?” The are many variables involved and it is imperative that law enforcement launch an investigation to locate the driver before evidence can be destroyed. Many causes are common, such as distracted driving, speeding, fatigue, and drinking and driving. Other less common factors include tire problems, road hazards, medical episodes, mechanical problems, and road conditions. When a driver injures someone and flees the scene, it appears they are aware something more than just an “accident” took place.
